Suicide Prevention: Lethal Means Counseling for Patients & Families

VHAN primary care providers are often at the front lines of screening and assessing behavioral health concerns for their patients. At times, primary care providers encounter patients who are experiencing severe depression or suicidal ideation. As part of a suicide risk assessment, safety planning is often recommended including counseling families on restricting access to lethal means within the home.

Join network team members Vanessa Howe & Terri Brady during an interactive webinar as they share more about VHAN’s behavioral health initiatives. This webinar will focus on:

  • Understanding why restricting access to lethal means is an important part of suicide prevention strategy and safety planning
  • Developing additional skills for safety planning and lethal means counseling for patients and families
  • Learning about network resources including the VHAN Pediatric Behavioral Consult Line to assist with behavioral healthcare needs of your patients
