Overcoming School Avoidance and Anxiety: Success Strategies for Patients

Roughly 10-15% of students miss at least 10% of school days each year. For many of them, it’s too hard academically, socially and emotionally. They may fear a bully or a difficult teacher relationship, or they may have social anxiety, phobias (such as fear of illness or germs), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) or depression.

The consequences of anxiety and school avoidance only get worse over time. The more school days a child misses, the more difficult it is to return, catch up and succeed.

While school avoidance can be traced to any number of factors, it can be diagnosed and treated. We invite you to register for our free pediatrics webinar, School Avoidance and Anxiety, to learn more about this condition and how you can recognize it in your young patients.

Tune in Wednesday, Aug. 23 at 12 p.m. CDT to hear expert insights on:

  • The impact of child and adolescent anxiety on school avoidance
  • Signs of emotional distress and school refusal behaviors
  • Associated physical symptoms
  • Short- and long-term impact
