Fracture Clinic

Streamlined, fast-tracked care for fractures

Your pediatrician, urgent care or emergency room is often the first stop when your child breaks a bone. If you need to follow up with a pediatric orthopedic specialist, we're here for you. You can also bring your child directly to the Vanderbilt Children’s Fracture Clinic without a referral.

Whether following up after your child’s fracture is stabilized at an urgent care or emergency room or coming in for an urgent orthopaedic visit following an injury, you can have peace of mind knowing that your child will be evaluated and treated by an orthopaedic physician specialized in sports and growth-plate injuries.

Imaging and Surgery for Fractures

Children’s bones are not like adult bones. They must be cared for in a way that ensures they can continue to grow. And sometimes that means surgery.

In Murfreesboro, children needing imaging or surgery for their orthopaedic injury can receive supportive care without having to travel to additional imaging or surgery centers. Your child’s orthopaedic provider will work with specially trained pediatric anesthesiologists and imaging specialists to ensure a coordinated approach to surgical treatment.

FAQs

What safety precautions are in place at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital Vanderbilt Surgery and Clinics Murfreesboro and the Vanderbilt Children’s Specialty Clinics Murfreesboro?

  • Everyone must wear a face mask to enter our hospitals, clinics and other facilities. This includes patients, visitors and our doctors, nurses and staff. If everyone wears a mask, we all protect each other.
  • We’re screening everyone who enters our hospitals, clinics and facilities for fever and other symptoms.
  • We’re sanitizing rooms between each patient and cleaning public areas often.
  • We’re taking steps to allow safe distancing. This includes spacing chairs in the waiting areas and limiting the number of people who can use the elevator at one time.
  • Because having COVID-19 can complicate recovery, we are testing patients for the virus before they have surgery or other procedures requiring general anesthesia at Children’s Hospital in Nashville.
  • We currently have restrictions on visitation to limit the number of individuals who enter our buildings.

My child is scheduled for surgery here or at the main hospital in Nashville. Can we get our pre-procedure COVID test done at this location?

Yes. Please call our office at 1-615-936-9000 to schedule your test during our office hours. Test must be completed 72 to 48 hours prior to your child’s procedure.
